ABOUT BURMESE

Burmese are extremely playful and will return small items thrown for them. They are highly intelligent little animals and in most cases extremely confident and inquisitive. This is why it is not advisable to give them their freedom. They throw caution to the wind and unfortunately many of them meet with tragic accidents on the roads.

They enjoy walking on a lead or harness (if trained from an early age) and have great fun exploring your garden under supervision. They are also delightfully naughty and their antics will keep you amused for hours. They are very sociable little animals and love human contact. It is not advisable to leave them on their own all day unless you have another feline companion for them.

They also love to snuggle in your bed at night if given the opportunity.

WARNING TO PROSPECTIVE PEDIGREE OWNERS

As in all walks of life there are disreputable people and cat breeding is no different. There are breeders who breed from unregistered stock, do not register their kittens and sell under age kittens. They do not vaccinate their kittens and also do not test the parents for leukaemia and feline aids.

If you are looking for a pedigree kitten make sure the kitten is :

  • G.C.C.F. registered.
  • Is vaccinated.
  • Is the correct age to leave home (not under 13 weeks old).
  • Make sure the parents are tested for leukaemia and feline aids and ask to see the parents test certificates.

By taking these simple steps it will help to drive these unscrupulous breeders out of business. If they cannot sell their kittens they will give up breeding.

Another point to remember is that if these rogue breeders try to sell you a sickly kitten harden your heart, do not feel sorry for the kitten, as you will be buying large vet bills in the future.
